Brexit – what it could mean for driving in the EU.

We know many of you might well have planned family holidays this Easter in Europe.  Or, you could need to use your vehicle for working in Europe - either way you should be aware that there will be new things to take into account if you’re planning on driving in Europe after Brexit

Now, we are not experts and are not offering advice with regard to driving in the EU after Brexit, but we want to support our customers with some top tips which relate specifically to the impacts if there is a no deal Brexit based on the current political landscape. 
 
Our top tips
 

1. Always use the government based websites to get the latest information – they are updated regularly and will give you all the information you need.

2. Read in full how to prepare if the UK leaves the EU with "no deal" This provides you with a broad understanding of the impacts and changes you might see. 

3. Give yourself plenty of time - if you do need to do things differently make sure you allow plenty of time. This is a new process and it will undoubtedly have teething trouble

4. Check before you travel:

a. check the government website 

b. check with your insurer - because the latest thinking is changing all the time. For example, if you’re planning to drive in the EU after 29 March, you will need to contact your insurer directly regarding obtaining a green card.

Your insurer can be found in your policy documents which you will have received in your welcome pack. Just log-on to your online account

5. There are specific things you should know about vehicle insurance in the EU and EEA when the UK leaves the EU on 29 March 2019 with a no deal.
